CASTING CALL: Be a Hero!

image

Hi folks! Are you ready for your close-up? We’re shooting a series of online commercials to promote FANATICON and are looking for actors! If you or someone you know would make a great superhero (tights and all), please drop us a line at info@fanaticon.org. We will begin shooting the week of March 12 and will continue through the end of the month. Actors will only need to commit to a single 2-3 hour shoot. It should be a lot of fun, so come be part of FANATICON history!

FANATICON Welcomes Marvel Comics Artist Butch Guice!

Captain America Reborn Artist Butch Guice to Appear at Asheville’s FANATICON
(Asheville, NC)

On May 15, 2010, the Asheville Art Museum will host FANATICON, a convention for fans of comic books, science fiction and fantasy. Headlining the event is acclaimed comic book artist and Asheville native Jackson “Butch” Guice.

Guice was born in Chattanooga, TN and grew up in Asheville. Since beginning his career, he has worked for such comic book giants as DC and Marvel, as well as independent publisher Dark Horse. He has taken on some of the world’s most recognizable comic book titles in his work, including X-Factor, Birds of Prey and the biggest hero of them all, Superman. Currently, Guice is collaborating with industry luminaries Ed Brubaker and Bryan Hitch on Marvel’s major publishing event, Captain America Reborn.

As a special guest, Guice will be featured in a presentation on the day of the event, which will include audience Q&A and an autograph session. Event Coordinator Chance Whitmire said, “Butch Guice is an amazing artist, a master of visual storytelling. It’s a great opportunity for our community to interact with a major talent, whether you’re a comic book fan or just appreciate really wonderful artwork.”

FANATICON will take place from 10:00AM – 5:00PM on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Asheville Art Museum. Admission is free.
